This study explores language switching from Urdu to English in Pakistani talk shows to understand how language evolves and is influenced by external factors. Language is dynamic and shaped by the introduction of new words and switching between languages. In Pakistani media, switching between Urdu and English is common, reflecting societal changes and globalization. A combination of qualitative and quantitative methods is used to analyze language switching. Data is compiled from Pakistani talk show clips, focusing on the frequency and types of switches (mono-word, di-word, clause, and sentence transitions). The study reveals a high frequency of Urdu-English code-switching, with notable grammatical patterns. The shifts often involve inserting English words into Urdu sentences, reflecting the influence of globalization and the bilingual nature of Pakistani society. To address the excessive reliance on English, it is recommended that media and educators promote the use of native language and ensure a balanced integration of both languages in communication.
